About
Heels for the Homeless is an organization started by three students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with the goal of spreading awareness of the issue of homelessness in America and serving these populations in the state of North Carolina and beyond. We aim to tell the stories of affected individuals and provide the supplies and resources needed through our virtual fundraisers.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, our purpose for the fall of 2020 is to assist local homeless shelters in protecting their communities. Many shelters are without masks and other necessary sanitary products to aid in the fight against the spread of the virus. For this reason, we will be focusing on providing these important resources to these communities until protection from the spread of COVID-19 is no longer their greatest need.
Storytelling
Our primary mission is to raise awareness of the issue of homelessness nationwide. We begin by accurately portraying the stories of affected individuals.
Fundraisers
We then create virtual fundraisers that encourage community participation in order to raise money for our partner homeless shelters.
Outreach
We aim to expand our organization into all parts of America. We never stop looking for ways to connect with homeless shelters in other regions of the nation in order to make the greatest impact possible.
Our Mission
Through community engagement, we strive to raise awareness of the plight of homelessness through the stories of affected individuals and provide the supplies and resources needed to these vulnerable communities.
Our Plan
In order to achieve our goals, we will be hosting fundraisers that anyone and everyone can participate in! We vow to keep our fundraisers safe and practical in order to minimize the pandemic's impact on our mission. Our virtual events will enable community engagement and widespread participation no matter what part of the nation you're in. Join us and get your community involved!
Where
While our main focus is in the Chapel Hill area, we are expanding our reach to Durham, Raleigh, Davidson, Asheville, and Chattanooga to make an impact on homeless communities in those regions as well. If you are a director of shelter in any of the following regions and would like to partner with us to receive donations, please contact us using the contact forum.
